Raezhaven Gower - Mojo

6 monthly update by Thor

It is hard to believe that we only have had Mojo for 4 months. It is as if he has always been with us. It is hard to describe to not dog owners how a little fellow like Mojo can bring so much joy and fun into your life.

From day one he became a member of our family and it has been such a delight to see him exploring his new surroundings and getting confident in his new life with us. He came from Raezhaven as a confident and secure puppy thanks to Rachel’s and Philip’s hard work, and we have tried to follow in their footsteps to give Mojo the best start possible. I have put a lot of effort into socialising him and he comes with me wherever I go. He absolutely loves people and especially children. The more attention he gets the happier he is. He approaches every new situation with a strong will to investigate and he is very curious.

Best of all, he is developing his own character and he is now much more a dog than a puppy, although there is still a lot of puppy in him. We love his body language, especially his from the shoulder down wagging of his tail. It is so lovely to see how he shows his happiness.

I am lucky that I have a good dog walking area in our village and every morning we are a group of dog owners meeting, which gives Mojo the opportunity to meet and play with other dogs. He loves our walks and the moment he thinks we are on our way out he stands in anticipation by the door. Almost all of the other dogs are much bigger than him, Max the black Labrador, Muffins and Arthur the boxers and many more. Mojo do not understand he is the little dog and tries desperately to establish himself in the pack preferably as the Alfa male. It is fun seeing a Cocker trying to dominate a Labrador. But Mojo does not give up. He is taken to the ground but gets up and goes for more. So he gets along very well with all dogs, regardless of size. I walk him twice a day for 30-45 minutes each time.

The training of him also goes well. Down, sit, stand, stay and off all works very well (mostly). However, the best thing is recall. He comes like a shot when I call him in most situations. So I never have the fear of letting him off the lead. Even when he is in full play with another dog he comes if I call him. So as you can understand I am very proud of my little fellow. I very often get comments on how well behaved he is, especially the fact that he does not jump up when we meet people on our walks.

At night he lives in our kitchen and is very happy there. Mojo has access to all rooms in our house. That is to say wherever we are we let the dog come with us. We have had no major chewing accidents as we make sure he has plenty of chews. Give him an empty box and he has a ball tossing it around and then taking it into a thousand pieces. We call him “The Shredder”.

Mojo is now about 15 kilo. He has lost his puppy fur and he is such a handsome fellow.

I write about Mojo with such affection and I am so lucky to have a dog like Mojo. He is now by my feet fast asleep after our walk this morning.

So if you are thinking about getting a Cocker Spaniel, get a Raezhaven Cocker.

Love from Thor and family and Mojo (Voff voff)
