9th December 09

The month of November whizzed by and we are now well into the festive season.....Christmas is on it's way and the New Year will be upon us before we know it. Here at Raezhaven, we are pleased to say that Echo and Fern have come into season and we hope to mate Echo in the next few days, details will be posted on our Puppies Page when she has been covered. Fern will be mated next year to our lovely Ghillie and the waiting list for these puppies is almost full.

Our Fund Raising Activities here at Raezhaven, since October have been progressing well and you can read all about them on our Fund Raising Fun page. We will update our activities in the new year with events that will be taking place in January and February. Phil and I will be undertaking the Great North Walk along Hadrians Wall, a total of 84 miles, and we will be starting to try and raise money for this walk in the new year. Once again we will be raising for Dogs for the Disabled and hope to complete the walk in 8-10 days.

Also, in the New Year we will be including updates on our last litters of puppies and keeping you informed as to their progress at 6 months of age and beyond.

31st October 09

Well the month of October has been a busy one. We had a lovely visit from Ali from Danalimatt Gundogs and Hazel and Phil from Paoates Working Cockers and the day was spent talking dogs, and wallking all our lovely cockers and honorary cocker, flatcoat Echo, on the heath.

We have had a really successful start to our Raezhaven Raising, with our lovely Teresa who has exceeded her target and managed to raise in excess of £750 so far for DFD. Alison is steadily growing the Cake Fund and we are forming new ideas all the time. You can read about the up and coming events by clicking here...

Phil & I had a great holiday in Crete but have to say we did miss our dogs, and are enjoying getting back into the routine with them.

Only three of Rubys' pups left now, and they go over the weekend. It's been kind of sad to see both litters go, but they have, and are all going to lovely homes and lovely people, and we are regularly updated on the forum of their progress.

Sunday is fast approaching and I am being joined on my Memory Walk by Sophie, a very lovely young lady who, absolutely adores animals, dogs in particular, and with her family, have for the past year owned Bliss the border collie, who is our Novas daughter. She is also going to join the Raezhaven Raisers Team, committing to raising funds for Dogs for the Disabled, along with Brian & Fran, and Debbie, Kevin, Conor and Niamh Mullane. Their pictures will all be put on the Raezhaven Raisers Team page shortly.

25th August

We said our fond farewells to Raezhaven Farriss aka Vito as he is now known as he left us with Rob from Dogs for the Disabled to start the next stage of his big adventure. We look forward to hearing how he gets on.

Here at Raezhaven we decided that we would like to do a little bit more for the Charity. So us and a group of friends are in the process of forming the Raezhaven Raisers. We are all going to pledge to raise as much money as possible for the Pounds for Hounds Project. We will all be doing different activities in our various parts of the country and encouraging our friends and relatives to sponser us. You can read more about what we intend to do on the link below. We will be adding more Team members over the next couple of months and our fund raising will start at the end of October 2009.

I will be doing the walk with Ghillie and Echo. If you would like to support us, you can do so by clicking on the banner at the side of the website under the Newest Members pictures. We will let you know how much we raise off line too.

21st August

Well the weeks since I last posted on the news page have flown by. Rubys' puppies arrived on the 9th July 09, so we have been extremely busy here at Raezhaven, trying to keep up with all the pee and pooh!!! Although I have sworn never to have two litters at the same time again, it has still been a pleasure to watch all the puppies grow and interact with each other. They all have lovely people lined up to take them home, each person has the special qualities we look for in our future puppy owners. They will start leaving next week, and the last one goes on the 5th September, it will certainly be very strange without them. You can see both litters by going into the picture gallery, or looking at the videos, or clicking on the higlighted texts below:

As you can see we have also opened a Members only Forum which is for our puppy owners, past, present and future, and a few selected invited members!!!  We are slowly building a lovely, friendly Raezhaven community, offering help and advice on our puppies and all aspects of their upbringing. If you would like to join the forum please email me at rachel@raezhaven.com and we will see what we can do.

Starting at the end of October we will be committing to fund raising for the next 12 months for the two charities below, if you want to support us you can donate by clicking on the buttons on our Home Page. We will be taking part in Organised Events as well as our own activities and challenges.

1st Jul 2009

Ferns' puppies arrived on the 29th June and they are all doing well. We took Fern to be checked over today, and the puppies had their dew claws removed. It all went smoothly and Fern and babies were given a clean bill of health. It's still very early days yet, but we trust they will continue to remain, strong healthy pups.

Ember is off to her new home today, where she is sharing her new owner with one other male flatcoat which will be much more to her liking. It's been a very hard decision to let her go, but she will be much happier, she has never really enjoyed having to share, or being part of a pack. She has given us a lovely daughter in the shape of Echo, and much enjoyment in the five years we have owned her. She can now give all that affection to one person, who will treasure her as much as we have.

Sometimes you reassess situations, and  have to put the needs of an individual dog before your own, regardless of how you feel, and how difficult it may be, and we know that we have made the right decision for Ember and the rest of our pack.

10th June 2009

Rubys' pregnancy was confirmed today, so all being well, we will have our second litter of cockers on or around the 12th July 09. We'll be busy here at Raezhaven over the next few months!!!

28th May 2009

Ferns' pregnancy was confirmed today, so we are excited and anticipate , all being well, the patter of tiny paws, on or around the 29th June 09.
We just have another two weeks to see if Ruby will be joining her in the nursery.

24th April 2009

Ruby and Fern are both in season, we will be mating both of them. We would not normally have two litters at the same time, but due to the irregularity of their seasons we have decided that having a litter might sort them both out! Details of the pending matings are on the Litters Expected page, which will be updated with their progress.

1st March 2009

Training sessions have re started at West Berkshire Gundog Club and this season we're joining the Training Team. It was a good day, the weather was kind to us, and we were encouraged by the enthusiastic turn out - a great start to the season.

16TH NOVEMBER 2008

Ghillie and I entered a Test of Work at  West  Berkshire Gundog Clubs' Training Ground and out of 12 puppies Ghillie came second and he enjoyed every minute of it.

13TH SEPTEMBER 2008

Ruby and I entered our Gundog Club Grade One Assessment. We took the test at West Berkshire Gundog Club's training ground under Assessor Jacquie Ward of Breeztbrook Gundogs. We passed with distinction and Ruby didn't drop any points at all and scored 80 out of 80 - well done Ruby you did us proud!!! We're already working on our Grade Two!
